Aussie Broadband boss named Runner-Up Managing Director of the Year by CEO Magazine
Aussie Broadband co-founder and Managing Director Phillip Britt has been named Runner-Up Managing Director of the Year by CEO Magazine.
The winners of The CEO Magazine’s 2020 Executive of the Year Awards were announced in a virtual ceremony attended by hundreds of business professionals across Australia.
Managing Director Phillip Britt said he was humbled and honoured to receive such a prestigious accolade.
“I‘m really honoured to accept this award – and I view it as an award for all the Aussie Broadband team, “ he said.
“It has been a challenging year for the telco industry due to the pandemic. However, the team at Aussie has gone above and beyond in making sure we consistently deliver a great experience for our customers,” Phil said.
Phil was recognised for being an industry disruptor and for running a straight-talking telco. The judges also said his encouragement of diverse thinking and no-nonsense approach was refreshing.
“I am incredibly proud of every team member, each of whom is critical to delivering the excellent customer service experience for which we’re renowned. This award belongs to them,” he said.
The online event celebrated the incredible work of Australia’s leading executives and the contributions they have made over the past 12 months to their companies and the business community at large.
Phil is a thought leader who has spent more than 25 years in the tech industry.
He started his first ISP at 18, largely because he wanted cheap internet. In 2003, he founded Wideband Networks with his business partner John Reisinger, from their lounge room in Morwell, to meet a growing need for better broadband in regional and rural areas.
Wideband Networks merged with Westvic Broadband in 2008 to create Aussie Broadband and Phil was appointed Managing Director. Phil’s taken the company from a small regionally-focussed business to an Australia-wide quality internet service provider.
Aussie’s outstanding reputation for stable internet and sensible customer service stem from Phil’s passion for putting the customer at the centre of the business, his hatred for anything that resembles bullsh*t, and his ability to empower his staff to do their best.
“This award shows just what a small regional company can do when they put their mind to it -we specialise in the impossible,” Phil said.
