Will my router/modem affect my speeds?

Yes, the hardware you use as part of your connection will play a big part in what speeds you can achieve. Your best bet is to use an ethernet cable. However, if that is not possible then, early tests of the highest speed plans have found the Google Nest Wifi provides the best quality connection.
