The Communify Story
Communify's journey began in Brisbane in 1978 with establishment of a small, volunteer-led community centre. Since then, the organisation has evolved into one of the city's leading community service providers and supports thousands of people each year.
Communify delivers housing and homelessness services, mental health and disability support, in-home and respite aged care, intensive family support and food relief to Brisbanites in need. The organisation also operates three community centres offering crisis support and social connection through more than 200 weekly community education programs.
Expansion, Up-scaling and Security
Communify's IT environment required upscaling to support the expansion of its support services across Brisbane. As its location footprint and requirements increased, the organisation's IT challenges also grew exponentially.
This presented a range of infrastructure hurdles. Specifically, maintaining stable connectivity in a larger environment, acquiring consistent speed for network performance and the implementation of robust security protocols to match its expanded set up.
Tailored Approach for Essential Connectivity and Security
Aussie Broadband's first step was to address Communify's connectivity challenge. Diagnosis showed Communify's environment would be best supported by NBN Enterprise Ethernet. The intent of the implementation was to supply Communify with consistent, reliable connectivity that could handle the bandwidth demands of the organisation's multi-site footprint.
Consultation with Fortinet supported the implementation of a tailored security solution including FortiGate Firewalls with Unified Threat Protection. These components gave Communify a security framework that would help to protect the sensitivities of its environment but still had the in-built efficiency to support future growth.

Communify's team were reliant on cloud systems and digital tools to support clients. The implementation of fibre connectivity and hosted firewall solution eased this requirement across Communify's 15 sites immediately improved the reliability and security of its network.
