Aussie Broadband is thrilled to announce Traralgon Rovers Cricket Club is a recipient of its 2026 Community Cricket Tech Fund, launched earlier this year in collaboration with Cricket Australia.

Clubs that were successful in this year’s round of $100,000 grants had the option to choose between either 12 months of free fixed broadband connectivity (100/20 or 500/50), or 12 months of free 5G data SIM and a Samsung S11 ultra tablet.

“We’re delighted to have seen a large interest in our fund from community cricket clubs across the country, and even more delighted to have 36 successful clubs in this year’s round of grants,” said Aussie Broadband CFO Darren Rowland. “We hope our fund means these clubs will have one less tech burden to worry about so they can focus on continuing to champion a love for cricket throughout their communities.”

Formed in 1937, the Traralgon Rovers is made up of 3 senior teams, 4 junior teams, a women's team and Woolworths Blast where they compete in the Cricket Latrobe Valley competition.

“Community cricket clubs like the Traralgon Rovers are at the heart of our local community, bringing people together and creating opportunities for participation at all levels,” said Hon Darren Chester MP. “This support from Aussie Broadband will help modernise the club’s operations and ensure it can continue to thrive both on and off the field.”

The Community Cricket Tech Fund will run for an additional two years, and any clubs that were unsuccessful in their application this time around, will have the opportunity to reapply towards the end of 2026.

“This support from Aussie Broadband is a game-changer for our club,” said Traralgon Rovers Cricket Club Vice President Steve Carney. “By removing the connectivity burden on grounds that our C Grade team play on which didn't have Wi-Fi available, they will be able to live score all their matches and focus on playing the game.”
