Aussie Broadband expands WA operations as Perth becomes second major Australian hub

Aussie Broadband is expanding its operations in Western Australia, with an upgraded Perth call centre and a major increase in its local distribution centre capacity as the company continues to grow its customer base in the state. 

Aussie has officially opened its upgraded all-Australian call centre in West Perth and expanded its distribution centre to a separate location in Welshpool, increasing local stock capacity from 30 pallets to 140 pallets. 

The Perth call centre is Aussie Broadband’s only residential call centre outside of Victoria, enabling the business to service customers across Australia’s eastern and western time zones. 

Aussie Broadband Group CEO Brian Maher said the facility is part of Aussie Broadband’s commitment to having onshore Australian call centres.  

“WA is a crucial part of Aussie Broadband's wider business strategy to make our call centre and distribution centre the second major hub outside of Victoria,” he said. 

“We first opened in Perth in 2021 and today’s opening of our upgraded call centre and expanded distribution footprint underlines our long-held strategy to operate across the two major time zones in Australia to service our customers. It also ensures we have the right transport and logistics mix from East to West to ensure our customers receive their hardware as fast as possible. 

“The expanded distribution centre is particularly important. Increasing our storage capacity from 30 to 140 pallets means we can hold substantially more customer hardware locally, reducing our reliance on major supplier deliveries from Victoria and improving the efficiency of our freight network,” said Brian. 

The upgraded call centre facility on Troode Street in West Perth has a 5-star NABERS rating and has been fitted out to match the look and feel of Aussie Broadband’s Melbourne and Traralgon facilities. The facility includes improved amenities and accessibility, 100 per cent sit-stand desks, city views and an open-plan kitchen and lunchroom. 

Aussie Broadband now has around 150 employees in Western Australia and capacity for future growth. 

Brian added that the company's expanding WA presence would also position it to take advantage of the next phase of the nbn rollout. 

“The nbn managed fibre upgrades commencing in 2028 will create further opportunities for customers in Western Australia to access higher-speed fibre services. Having a strong local operation, including our call centre and distribution centre capability, means we are well placed to support our customers as that rollout progresses.” 

The Hon. Patrick Gorman MP, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister and Member for Perth said he welcomed the investment in Western Australia.
